- October 22 and 23, 2010
- 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Join in the Halloween Haystack Maze, creatively constructed with haystacks and Halloween characters! Make your way to the maze, located in the Center of the Northwestern Mutual Family Farm, and participants can purchase a caramel apple afterward in the Dairy Complex as a tasty treat! These fall sweets are courtesy of the American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK). Here are some of the additional activities scheduled for these frightfully fun evenings:
Enjoy the glowing, hand-carved pumpkins in the Pumpkin Patch! Then, continue on to the “Forest Trail at Wolf Woods Crossing” for the illuminated pumpkins, as they glow and glitter against a backdrop of a dancing light show!
(Feline Mall – Pumpkin Patch)
(Wolf Woods – Dancing Light Show)
Take part in colorful crafts, and design a Halloween keepsake of the Zoo’s Safari Train Station, made with your very own ink thumbprints!
(Apes of Africa, Primates of the World, & Aquatic & Reptile Center)
Have a howling good time as our featured guest, Captain Jack Sparrow, entertains crowds with a dashing pirate performance.
(U.S. Gathering Place)
The majestic felines, including African lions and Amur tigers, will be your companions as you choose your favorite temporary tattoo to show off! Designs include black cats and pumpkins.
(Florence Mila Borchert Big Cat Country)
An eerie adventure awaits as you hop aboard our Safari Train turned Raven’s Rail, for a spooky spin around the park!
(Weather permitting - North Shore Bank Train Station – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.)
Go batty and learn more about the fascinating species of bats at the Zoo, and the important role they play in our natural world.

Don’t forget the favorite rhyming storybook characters, Harry and Fred, as they invite you to take part in yet another one of their adventures! These two pumpkin characters always seem to invite fun and frolic wherever they go!
