Neat decorations-a great permanent fixture in a sport fanatics room!

The PaperDoll Store
I thought these were so neat!  They are signing boards-they are 6 feet tall and are supposed to be great for standing behind and taking photos or just as a signing board!  There are a number of sizes-I was looking for Super Bowl Party decorations and say these!  How neat!  You can customize them as well!  They run $175 but I think that is worth it for a memento that will last a lifetime!  My husband is working on a Packer memorabilia room-TV, mini fridge, microwave, it is really supposed to be a movie or TV rec room but there is so much football stuff that it is less ours and more his at this point.  I thought this would be a really neat addition to the room when he has his football watching get together.
The PaperDoll Store has a lot of other neat items like birth announcements, notepads, stickers and more!

Free Family Fun Night at Ebenezer Child Care 1/13/11

Links provided may be from affiliate programs which help support this blog. Thanks for clicking!
Every month Ebenezer Child Care Center’s posts a useful parenting tip on their website:

http://www.ebenezerchildcare.com/parenting_tips.php

You might want to check out this FREE Family Fun Night...

Ebenezer Child Care Centers’ downtown facility, located at 340 W St. Paul Avenue (across from the main post office), will be hosting a FREE Family Fun Night on “Treating the Most Common Childhood Viruses” on Thursday, January 13th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Certain common childhood illnesses are just a part of growing up, and catching them actually helps to boost your child's immune system. While most illnesses come and go, there are some that deserve special attention from parents. Come to this Family Fun Night to learn more about them. Activities will include making snowflake shakers, playing with shaving cream snow, and creating paper plate snowmen. In addition to the activities, you will have the opportunity to enjoy dinner on us!

I recently toured 2 of the Ebenezer Child Care Centers with my sister (she had her baby on Saturday!!!), both locations we saw were very nice-one of them was the location in which this event will be held.  Parking might be a little crazy so plan ahead.  The facilities were nice-the infant room was being remodeled.  I loved the lofts in some of the rooms.  The staff were all very professional and friendly.  This was on my sisters top 3 list-it was number 2, she decided on somewhere closer to home.  She and I really liked this Ebenezer Child Care center though.  All of the kiddos were happy when we toured also!
***A little side note-I worked at a group child care center for 10 years-this is why I went with my sister on the tour.  The Director and staff were genuinely nice and my sister really would have chosen this center if it would have been closer to home.  It was a tough decision between her top 3.

Kick Start Your New Years: Exercise Day Four: Basic Bridge

Links provided may be from affiliate programs which help support this blog. Thanks for clicking!
Day Three Exercise:
Basic Bridge

  • Lay on your back with your hands by your sides, your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.
  • Make sure your feet are under your knees.
  • Tighten your abdominal and buttock muscles.
  • Raise your hips up to create a straight line from your knees to shoulders.
  • Squeeze your core and try to pull your belly button back toward your spine.
  • If your hips sag or drop, lower yourself back on the floor.
  • The goal is to maintain a straight line from your shoulders to your knees and hold for 20 to 30 seconds. You may need to begin by holding the bridge position for a few seconds as you build your strength. It's better to hold the correct position for a shorter time than to go longer in the incorrect position.
I love to do the bridge!  It rocks those butt muscles and helps your abs as well.  When my oldest was an infant, I used to set her on my stomach and do this exercise...and, man, did I feel that burn!  I have also done these and in between going up and down with the bridge, I open and close my legs.  Works more of the butt muscles!

    • Work those butt muscles while standing in the line at the grocery store or even in the car!  I clinch my butt together while I am in the line at the grocery store.  No one can even see my doing it!  I will clinch and hold for a count of ten at a time.  I do this while drving as well.  It's a great way to work those muscles and firm up while you are running errands you need to do anyway!

    Thanks, Sports Medicine

"Bark It Furward" from Milk Bone

Links provided may be from affiliate programs which help support this blog. Thanks for clicking!
“It’s Good to Give…This Season!”  What better way to celebrate the holiday season then through Bark It Furward, a program created to raise awareness and funds for Canine Assistants, a non-profit organization that trains and provides service dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities and the Milk-Bone® brand’s long-time charitable partner since 1997.  For nearly 20 years, Canine Assistants has provided 1,000 service dogs to people across the country, giving them the chance to have more independent lifestyles.

Many people in need of a service dog depend on Canine Assistants to pay for the lifelong care of the dog.  Without the help of any government funding, Canine Assistants relies on the generosity and private donations made by philanthropic partners, like Milk-Bone®, to help pay for the training of these special needs dogs.
Some of the tasks the dogs perform include turning lights on and off, opening and closing doors, pulling wheelchairs, retrieving dropped objects, summoning help and providing secure companionship.  While all of these functions are vitally important in helping a person obtain greater freedom, perhaps the most impressive gift the dogs provide is social, rather than physical, in nature.  The dogs eliminate feelings of fear, isolation and loneliness felt by their companions. One Canine Assistants recipient made the value of this gift quite clear when asked by a reporter what she liked most about her service dog.  Immediately, she responded, "My dog makes my wheelchair disappear."

    Companion Dogs:
Like service dogs, companion dogs also serve to assist children and adults with physical disabilities or other special needs.  Companion dogs work primarily in a recipient's home, assisting with tasks around the house and more importantly, contributing to the emotional well being of the person.

    Seizure Response Dogs:
In addition to service dogs and companion dogs, Canine Assistants also trains and provides seizure response dogs for certain recipients.  As with some of the service dogs, these dogs are adopted from various organizations and selectively screened for personality, temperament and general health.  Following general training, seizure response dogs are trained to perform one of the following behaviors, depending on the recipient's need: remain next to the person during the course of a seizure, summon help in a controlled environment or retrieve a phone prior to the seizure when indicated by the recipient.  Certain dogs may even develop the ability to predict and react in advance to an oncoming seizure once they are placed with their recipient.

Bark It Furward was created by Milk-Bone® brand to educate others about the inspiring work being conducted by Canine Assistants. By joining the Bark It Furward movement, you can help raise awareness and much needed funds to provide assistance dogs for people with disabilities.

Canine Assistants are a vital part to many children and adults with special needs. Here is how you can help, it is easy and doesn't cost you anything except a few moments of your time!

Comment on this post!  Just comment below, please use your first name (not anonymous) and let us know something you have done to Pay It Forward or  about other Pay It Forward opportunites you know about.  Do you use Milk Bone productd for your canine friends?  What is their favorite?

For every comment we  receive, Milk-Bone® will donate $1 to Canine Assistants!

Bark It Furward takes place between November 18, 2010 and January 4, 2010. We will try and remind you about this opportunity.

If we recieve the most comments out of all the bloggers involved in this project we will recieve the opportunity to interview Jennifer Arnold, The New York Times best-selling author and founder of Canine Assistants. We  will be able to speak to Jennifer about her book, her role in the PBS documentary, “Through a Dog’s Eyes,” the organization, how it was started, her training methods, the matching process, and, of course, the puppies!

Kick Start Your New Years: Quick, Cheap and Easy Recipe Day Four: Slow Cooker Roast Beef

Links provided may be from affiliate programs which help support this blog. Thanks for clicking!
    Slow Cooker Roast Beef
    Ingredients:

    • 3 pounds rump roast
    • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
    • 1 packet of dry onion soup mix
    • 1 cup of HOT water
    • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed beef broth

    Directions:
    1. Place rump roast in a slow cooker.
    2. Mix dry onions oup mix with water.  Pour in condensed cream of mushroom soup, condensed beef broth, and onion/water mixture.
    3. Cook on LOW for about 8 hours
    4. ENJOY!

I add onion, but didn't put it in the ingredients as the recipe doesn't really need it.  I season the roast, add onions in with all of the other ingredients and it's good as gold!
I had no idea how healthy onions are for you!  Onion is a powerful anti-septic that is rich in vitamins A, B and C.  It is a potent source of folic acid, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, chromium, iron and dietary fiber.

    Thanks, Juicing-for-Health!
