Great event if you are thinking of working from home! Check out this information from the Milwaukee Home Business Expo.

“Should I work from home?”

After adding up the cost of childcare, transportation, convenience items, and not to mention lost time with the kids, moms often wonder if working outside the home is really worth it. One brave woman at creativehome.com totaled the cost and realized her salary had been reduced to a mere $3.80 per hour (see her story, and her detailed costs, here).

Facing those numbers can be discouraging. If she can’t afford to work and she can’t afford to not work, what’s a savvy woman to do?

With the accessibility of email, Google, and social media, it has never been easier to get the best of both worlds by starting a home-based business. Not a shady, virtual Ponzi scheme, but a legitimate business through direct sales, commissions, or a low-investment franchise.

The idea of starting an at-home business can feel overwhelming at best, if not downright impossible. Where does one begin?

Saturday, June 4, at Wisconsin State Fair Park, the Milwaukee Home Business Expo will showcase legitimate work-from-home resources and opportunities for everyday people. The Milwaukee Home Business Expo is a local event produced by work-from-home business owners. Working from home offers freedom and flexibility, and the Milwaukee Home Business Expo is designed to empower others to take the leap.

The Milwaukee Home Business Expo will present informational seminars throughout the day. Representatives from the Milwaukee Bar Association will discuss tax law for home business owners as well as the legal process of starting a business. All expo attendees are eligible to enter a FREE hourly raffle drawing to win work-from-home business tools.

Come to the show with a notebook and an open mind. And bring a friend – or better yet, bring your spouse (a supportive spouse is the secret of many successful entrepreneurs). Advance tickets are available online at the buy-one-get-one-free rate of $10 for two.

If you have any questions about the nitty-gritty of home-business life, feel free to ask at http://formspring.me/homebizexpo. Next week, we’ll share some practical advice about how to approach the work-at-home life right here on My Milwaukee Mommy. Until then, check out http://MilwaukeeHBE.com for information about next weekend’s show.

Train Ride and Admission for One Adult and Child to Mid Continent Railway Museum $13

With today's deal from Living Social Madison from the Mid-Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom, take a trip back in time and see how some of the last century's greatest inventions paved the way to today's modern world: $13 gets you a coach train ride for one adult and one child, and admission into the grounds (a $26 value). The museum celebrates the golden age of railroading, which spanned from 1880 to 1916.
