Make "Surprise Crayons" at home!

Do you have a bunch of half used broken crayons at home?  I make my own crayons with them!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees place broken crayons in cupcake papers, place in oven for about 13 minutes and when melted take them out and let cool!

When cool peel the paper off and start coloring!

These are perfect for little hands, the colors are great and always changing!  I call them "surprise crayons", because you never really know what color you will get!

My kids at work LOVE these!

(FYI: I have a muffin tin and sheet pan designated just for crafts in case there is spill or leakage.)

Review of Zaycon Chicken - Chicken Fest: Day 8

Chicken Fest: Day 8

My wonderful wife was able to get a review of Zaycon Frozen Chicken. We received 40 lbs of frozen boneless skinless chicken breasts, which we split with Ann. I was wondering how we would go about trying the chicken and started to think about all the different dishes that use chicken, so in honor of Milwaukee, city of festivals, I came up with CHICKEN FEST.

We are well into our allotment of chicken and I have been impressed with the consistency of the product.  The breast pieces have all been basically the same size and I haven't had to remove large amounts of fat from any of the pieces.

Today Betsy and I continue our culinary travels with Chicken Taco Salads.

CHICKEN FEST: DAY 8

Chicken Taco Salad

Taco salads are the only type of salads I like to eat because they come in a deep fried edible bowl.  We picked up a few taco salad bowls at El Rey along with a chipotle and lime marinade.  I cut the chicken into strips and marinaded them for about an hour.  Here is everything else you will need.

I grilled the chicken and also decided to grill the extra vegetables from yesterdays kabobs to include as an additional option for salad toppings.

I built my salad with lettuce, chicken, some vegetables, shredded cheese, salsa, and sour cream.

This is a pretty quick and easy dinner to make.  You could ditch the bowl and just use chips to create a meal of nachos.

Only two days of chicken fest remain.  Check back tomorrow when we make some creamy chicken salad sandwiches.

I took advantage of the OfficeMax FREE backpack offer, check out what I picked up!

I took full advantage of the OfficeMax MaxPerks Bonus Rewards offer (100% back with your MaxPerks card).  I have had a MaxPerks card for a while, there are great deals and I love the ink cartridge recycling program.  Since I shop at OfficeMax about once a month and use my MaxPerks card,  my purchases and ink cartridge recycling add up to in store credit.  I looked yesterday morning and I had $40 in credit!!!  You can just imagine my excitement, my husband was pretty stoked too.
I am rough on backpacks and need to replace mine at least every 2 years.  With the OfficeMax deal I snagged a backpack for $39.99, used my in store credit, and am gaining $39.99 back in store credit so my backpack really was FREE-no money changed hands and I am getting my in store credit back (minus a penny).  Not too shabby.

So Back to School is a great time to stock up for supplies for the whole year, I love that OfficeMax and
Office Depot come out with penny deals, you do need to be fast though,
even with limits they sell out really quickly.
