Castle Farm, Volume 1
This is a beautifully drawn series that is unique to what we are used to nowadays!
A funny and charming animated preschool series set in an idyllic but busy
country farm based in the grounds of a castle. This colourful series follows the
two main characters, Farm Girl and her best friend, Piggy and their friends,
including Farmer, Leonard the cow hand, and the wise Unicorn. We follow Piggy
and Farm Girl as they embark on a series of quests. From wondering if a new
puddle is wobbly water or silver soup to admiring a butterfly, Farm Girl and
Piggy use their initiative to find out about the world around them.
We got this to review and I watched this with my daughter one night when she was having a hard time falling asleep. She stayed up and watched the whole thing and wanted more. I was thrilled to be able to show her Happy Valley right afterwards as we drifted off to sleep!
Happy Valley, Volume 1
Happy Valley is set in a beautiful countryside by the sea. Using traditional and
contemporary nursery rhymes and songs, each episode tells a story about the
children who live in the valley. In each episode they go about their daily lives
and learn about the world around them, whether it's the seasons, the weather or
the animals. The series focuses on experiences familiar to young viewers, such
as a school trip to the farm, a visit to grandma to look at old photos, a
shopping expedition with mother or a walk in the woods to see the falling
leaves. A single narrator tells the story in an endearing and soothing way that
will captivate children the world over. Its simple designs and vibrant colours
will appeal to even the youngest viewers.
I liked the family interactions throughout this DVD. My daughter enjoyed this DVD as much as she enjoyed Castle Farm! I liked that it was a switch from what we are used to with the animation. It was cute and full of family lessons!
