Make DIY projects easier on your budget with PlasticJungle.com

There are so many DIY projects we need to do around the house but they can really get expensive!  We ask for gift cards for holidays and birthdays and we also purchase them when we have a little extra cash!  To really make your dollars stretch you can purchase gift cards at discounted prices with Plastic Jungle.
At Plastic Jungle you can buy discounted gift cards up to 35% off with FREE shipping

We love using gift cards for our Do It Yourself Projects we used 3 gift cards:
Lowe's, Home Depot and Bed Bath and Beyond (for the glasses that are going on the shelves.
When you purchase through Plastic Jungle you get gift cards at discounted prices:
Save up to 8% off on Home Depot gift cards. (where we purchased our "oops paint")
Save up to 7% off on Lowe's gift cards. (we purchased the hardware from Lowe's)
Save up to 10% off on Bed Bath & Beyond gift cards. (our new glasses for our new bar)

Here is a DIY project we finally got around to this weekend...

Homemade "Bar"

This project has been on my "Honey Do List" for about 7 years, ever since we saw it on one of those DIY home project shows.  Basically you turn a regular 4 or 5 drawer dresser into a small home bar with a tub for ice and a door which would reveal 2 shelves.

You begin with a dresser, here is the one I used.

Pull out the second and third drawers from the dresser.  Then cut the fronts off the drawers.

You will also have to remove any cross piece that separates the drawers, leaving a large gap in the dresser.

Then connect the drawer fronts and the cross piece using wood glue, you may need to use some extra pieces of wood to create enough surface area to connect everything together.

Next you will need to cut a hole in the top of the dresser.  Measure it out so that it fits the size of the tub you have chosen to use as your ice bucket, but make sure the hole is not too big that the tub falls through the hole.

Once the wood glue has had enough time to set, connect the drawer front door to the  dresser using hinges.

The shelves that are inside the door are created by reinserting the drawers that you cut the fronts off of.

I then painted it using some different "oops paints" that we had picked up at Home Depot.  The "oops paints" are paints that have been returned for various reasons and are sold for as low as $1, depending on the size of the can.  These come in handy for small projects around the house.

Then you place the finished product into your house.  We put ours in the back half of our family room.

In case you were wondering, that is a Green Bay Packer soda machine next to the bar.  Jealous?

Gift cards make great gifts!  If you are short on time, try an eCODE for faster electronic delivery.  An eCODE can be used for online purchases or depending on the card can be added to other of the same gift card you already have.
If you want to make extra cash, sell your unused gift card and get 92% back.  This comes in very handy if you receive a card you know you won't use or you would rather have cash.

Smart Balance

Smart Balance products are delicious tasting, heart healthier alternative for everyday products like butter, 2% milk or other staple products containing trans fats for missing key nutrients like Omega-3s. Click Here

We have recently started making little changes, we actually just picked up the Smart Balance Extra Virgin Olive Oil and the Omega Non-Stick Cooking Spray.  We no longer saute or brown in butter-we stopped that a while ago and have been using olive oil and cooking sprays for baking and cooking.  Now we are trying the Smart Balance items-we just picked them up last week.  We have used the olive oil once and the cooking spray twice.  We have not noticed a taste difference and the corn muffins certainly did not stick to the pan when we used the cooking spray.

Sign up for a free Smart Balance account to get coupons and other healthy tips!  (I am certainly signing up as we did not use coupons because we did not think to check before purchasing!)

The holidays are quickly approaching and gifts can really hit your pocketbook hard.  I also have a strict budget at work and I like to treat my work kiddos to new games and toys.  I love when I find game and toy coupons, they really help when it is time for buying gifts and replenishing our games at work!
All of these games encourage taking turns, playing fairly, good sportsmanship and other skills.

$3.00 off one CHUTES AND LADDERS game
A staple for younger children-very easy directions and counting skills, also great story making and learning consequences.

$4.00 off the purchase of one SORRY! game
Great reading skills-I have to double check but if you can use this on SORRY! Sliders , I would suggest it!  That also needs hand eye coordination and strategy and logic skills.

$4.00 off the purchase of one BATTLESHIP game

Really logic and strategy based, a lot of pieces so would also promote responsibility so you can continue to enjoy it!

$4.00 off the purchase of one OPERATION game
Hand/ Eye coordination and steadiness.  Fun game and can usually be found with characters like Shrek!

$5.00 off one MONOPOLY Electronic Banking game

I have this game-I love not having all the paper money to count and loose.  It still takes a while to play but is perfect for a rainy day or a fun weekend game.  You still need to do math and need to think logically and budget!
