At Universal Studios, the Macy’s Holiday Parade will celebrate its 10 Anniversary of partnership with Universal Orlando by filling the streets every evening with some of the same iconic elements seen winding through New York City each year at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The beloved event features colorful holiday characters, fantasy-filled floats – including one specially-designed to commemorate the 10-year milestone – a tree-lighting ceremony by Santa Claus and dozens of larger-than-life balloons. The Macy’s Holiday Parade also welcomes select park guests to participate in the procession as real balloon-handlers guiding the helium giants, a truly unique and exclusive experience to Universal Orlando.



Returning this year with more concerts than ever before is Mannheim Steamroller -- the masters of Christmas music with more than 40 million albums sold worldwide. The acclaimed musical group will take to the Music Plaza stage in Universal Studios six times this year to play their memorable holiday hits for guests, performing on December 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18.

 

Also at Universal Studios, guests can enjoy special holiday-themed versions of their favorite shows, and nightly a capella holiday music in the nearby Holiday Village, which is filled with hand-blown glass ornaments, caramel apples, hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts and a cupcake decorating location.

The celebration continues at Universal Orlando’s three on-site hotels – Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort – all of which will glisten with holiday decorations. VTech InnoTab Interactive Learning Tablet for Kids Review

The InnoTab by VTech is basically a tablet for kids.  It is designed for children ages 4 - 9.  This neat little gadget brings together learning and fun on a handheld computer that is tough enough to deal with the demands of of busy children.  It comes with lots of built-in apps, but you can download loads more on the VTech website.  Fresh out of the box it comes with a basic coloring and drawing app, an e-book, and interactive calendar.  It also has the abilities to store and play videos, photos, and music. 
The InnoTab is a touch-screen that can be used with or without a stylus.  It has 128 MB of built-in storage, but you can download additional apps onto an SD card which you insert into the back.  It also supports plug-in cartridges which can be purchased.
I was lucky enough to check one out for my review.  My six year old loves her new InnoTab.  Her favorite app is definitely the "Color and Pop."  She is very artsy and she just loves playing and coloring and designing.  She has spent so much time on that one app itself that that alone would have sold me!  I think what has impressed me the most is that she can bring her drawings to life with the tilting of the InnoTab.  The pictures move to side to side...very cool, indeed! 
I also liked the interactive e-Book!  Children can learn reading comprehension, vocabulary, and phonics while interacting with animated characters. Words are highlighted as kids read, and offer proper pronunciation when touched on the screen.    Each e-book also comes with a story dictionary. The definitions make it easy for children to understand the word and the context of the story.   Being that I was an elementary school teacher, this was a huge winner for me...it was the first thing I checked out after opening the package!
In all honesty, I love this "tablet."  Keep in mind, however, that this is ultimately a tablet for your child, so it will not function the exact way that a tablet for an adult would.  With that being said, well worth the asking price of $79.99.  Order yours through Amazon today for $79.00.  These are selling out fast, so if you are thinking for a holiday gift, be sure to order yours while they are still available at a decent price.

Gunapod Wearable Blanket "Safety Meets Usability" Review

These winter months here in Wisconsin get super cold.  My house has a little draft and we turn the heat down at night.  It gets pretty chilly in my son's room.  My one year old has a hard time sleeping through the  night as he is constantly chilly.  I find myself checking on him and covering him up two or three times a night.

Well, I was able to get a Gunapod for review.  I met the lovely ladies behind the Gunapod while we were at Chitag (Chicago Toy and Game Fair).  They were kind enough to give me a Gunapod to try out with my son.  I was so excited as it is super soft and VERY convenient...it covers all the bases in a wearable blanket. 

The gunapod is safety meets usability. Think easier ...cozier ...softer. In a word? Better.

I love the idea that I can leave the bottom open for the easy movement.  That is the best part for us thus far.  My son is a mover and CANNOT stand to be restricted.  So, I unzip it when he wakes up and he just loves that he is able to move around.   I have a love/hate relationship with wearable blankets, but with this I have a love/love relationship!  I have yet to find anything unpractical about it.  I just wish I would have found this sooner.  It is ideal for travel.  We recently took a road trip and I had this on him the whole car ride.  It worked out so well for us.  It's hard to find a wearable blanket that easily fits a 16 month old who is rather big for his age and a total mover.  This covered all my bases in what I was looking for.  This is definitely worth the $29.95 price tag!
