I was selected to try out some great food and wine from
ALDI grocery stores. Did you know that ALDI sold wine? Neither did we! Most is $4.99 or less, this certainly makes it more affordable to serve something special to your guests.
Shopping at
ALDI is very affordable they have 1,400 of the most frequently purchased grocery items that you would be shopping for weekly but their prices are up to 50% less than your regular grocery store. At ALDI you will find cheese, milk, cereal, juice, frozen items and more! There are also great specialty items for entertaining. For this review I was asked to purchase wine and make a great appetizer which came in very handy this weekend as we celebrated Christmas three times.

ALDI Baked Brie with Cranberry Sauce
serves 10
This recipe is from Chef Kates, ALDI Test Kitchen
1 wheel edenVale Brie Cheese
1/2 cup Southern Grove Dried Cranberries
1 cup Burlwood Cellars Chardonnay
1/2 cup Berryhill Blackberry Fruit Spread
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place unwrapped brie on a foil lined baking sheet. Heat in oven 12-15 minutes or until brie is warmed through and soft to the touch.
Meanwhile, bring dried cranberries and white wine to a boil in a small saucepan. Add fruit spread, reduce heat to medium high and simmer 10-15 minutes, stirring often. Sauce is ready when liquid has thickened and coats the back of a spoon.
To serve: pour over warm brie. Can be eaten alone or spread on crackers.
We also purchased the Savoritz Entertainment Crackers which has an assortment of six crackers. To add a little sweet treat we served the Grandessa Signature Mini Eclairs also purchased at ALDI.
Our guests were really impressed!
It was VERY good, everyone loved it! I thought the baked brie had a nice balance with the sweetness of the sauce and the rich and creamy flavor and texture of the brie.
ALDI has many affordable options for entertaining (and for everyday). We picked up an additional bottle of wine, a package of edenVale Creamy Havarti cheese and cheese ball. We also picked up a few weekly essentials since we were there, my husband needed a gallon of milk and we also picked up a loaf of bread, buns, a stir fry kit and a few frozen snacks as well.
Our guests were very impressed with the wines we served, the rest of the Chardonnay from the recipe and a bottle of Villa Malizia Pinot. I did share with our guests that the wine and food that they were enjoying was from ALDI they were impressed by the selection I found and the great quality and taste of the items. I know we will certainly be shopping at ALDI more and I think we have turned a few of our guests as well. :)
