We love cheeseburgers!  Look what we made...
One of my comfort foods is cheeseburgers, my favorite is making them at home because you are able to add whatever you would like and really experiment.  We have tried adding peppers, hot sauce, seasonings and other tasty items.  My favorite is this recipe...

You will need:

  • your favorite pickle
  • your favorite cheese (I like Sargento Colby Jack)
  • ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • a little pepper
  • white mushrooms
  • onion (I don't do this, Mr. Betsy puts it in his)

Cut your pickle, I use midget dill pickles so I chop 6 of them for two burgers.   Mix your ground beef up with your cut up mushrooms, pickles and onion.  Add egg and pepper.  Mix until you can put the meat into a ball without it falling apart.  Cut cheese into little pieces and set aside.  After everything but the cheese is mixed together then add the cheese, you want it to be in pieces not mashed into the meat.  Gently mix it in.  Make your burger!  I make them about three and a half inches wide and 3/4 of an inch thick.  Grill or fry, I like mine medium well, Mr. Betsy likes them medium rare.  I like to put my cheese down first, yes cheese in the burger and cheese on (in my case under) my burger.  Add whatever you would like, honestly I love my burger like this, if you leave it juicy you don't need condiments!

My favorite place to have a burger?  Sobelman's!  Did you see my recent visit there?

Have you been to Sobelman's?  Did you know that there are three locations?  We have now been to all three. :)  They are all great and the locations are very different from each other but all have the same basic menu.  Check out Sobelman's @ MarquetteSobelman's on St. Paul or Sobelman's Eastside Grill.
We had a lot of fun with two of our friends, we try to go out once a month with them so this was a fun treat. :)  On this night out we had a little "challenge" to try the Sobelman's Bacon Double Cheeseburger.  This really wasn't a challenge it was a welcome request.  The burgers are very moist and juicy, they are flavored well.  The buns are soft and a good size.  The cheese was melted nicely. The bacon was not overly crispy so it went well with the soft bun and juicy burger.  It was very good without putting any condiments on it, which is odd for me, I can be pretty picky but the burger and cheese combination was very good without any "extras".
I am a cheeseburger fan (not hamburger) cheese just adds an extra component that really makes it a meal and depending on the cheese it can change the whole burger, pepperjack is Mr. Betsy's favorite cheese but I really enjoy sharp cheddar, colby jack or munster.
Don't forget to check out the "America's Ultimate Cheeseburger" on the Sargento Facebook Page!
