52 Places to Visit In Wisconsin...Riveredge Nature Center

We took a jaunt to Newburg, Wisconsin and visited the Riveredge Nature Center.  This is about 1 hour North of Milwaukee.
The Riveredge Nature Center is actually two parts there is the Riveredge Sugar Shack, where they have the pancake breakfast area and some nature trails and a little down the road there is a building that is the actual Nature Center and they have a gift shop and more nature trails as well as special events and classes.
It is a very nice scenic drive.  We did walk some of the trails and they are well tended, we saw a lot of birds and a few critters.  FYI: we heard gunshots from the skeet shooting range down the road.  It is a very peaceful place and a great walk with your family.  Check it out especially when they have events!


Would we go back? We are planning on checking out other events.

Shrek the Musical is coming to the Milwaukee Theatre April 5 - April 8...Tickets on Sale Now!

“Shrek the Musical,” based on the Oscar-winning Dreamworks film, will make its debut at the Milwaukee Theatre for five performances Thursday, April 5 at 7 p.m., Friday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 8 at 1 p.m.  Tickets are on sale now.

An entirely new musical which opened on Broadway December, 2009, “Shrek the Musical” is based on the story and characters from William Steig’s book Shrek!, which was turned into one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time, the DreamWorks Animation film Shrek, the first chapter of the Shrek movie series.

“Shrek the Musical” tells the story of a swamp-dwelling ogre who goes on a life-changing adventure to reclaim the deed to his land. Joined by a wise-cracking donkey, this unlikely hero fights a fearsome dragon, rescues a feisty princess and learns that real friendship and true love aren’t only found in fairy tales.

“Shrek the Musical” was initiated when Academy Award-winning film director Sam Mendes (Revolutionary Road, American Beauty), a big fan of the first Shrek film, suggested the idea of creating a musical to DreamWorks Animation’s Jeffrey Katzenberg around the time the second film, Shrek 2, was in production.  During its Broadway run it played over 500 performances, garnered eight 2009 Tony Award nominations, and ranked as one of the top 10 highest grossing musicals of 2009.

“Shrek the Musical” features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize^® winner David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole, Good People), music by Olivier Award-winner Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie,  Caroline, or Change). “Shrek the Musical” is directed by Stephen Sposito who recently served as Associated Director of the current Broadway revival How To Succeed In Business starring Daniel Radcliff.
