"In the Heights" a must see...

 
WOW!  We had so much fun at "In the Heights".  If you are looking for a musical that will keep your feet tapping  and will get you really interested in the storyline here it is!  Immediately I knew it was going to be great, the sets are very detailed, I loved the multi storied buildings and being able to see into them.  The 2 young love stories really capture your heart.  The story is also a little heart breaking,  but heart warming as well.  You love abuela as much as the characters do.  I LOVED the dancing! :)There are two shows today, click here for tickets.

three performances May 4 at 8 p.m. and May 5 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.

“In the Heights” tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington

Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the

windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s

a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest

struggle can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

In addition to winning the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical, Miranda won the Tony Award

for Best Music and Lyrics. The show also won for Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations.

In addition, the original cast recording won the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show

Album.

“In the Heights” began as a scribble in the margins of show creator Lin-Manuel Miranda’s

astronomy notebook during his sophomore year of college. Miranda, whose parents were both

born in Puerto Rico, would spend hours imagining what life would be like to have been born

there. From those scribbles, a musical began.

A PBS special, “In the Heights: Chasing Broadway Dreams” chronicled the personal stories of

composer/lyricist/creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Broadway cast of “In the Heights” in the

months leading up to its opening night on Broadway and premiered on PBS stations across the

country in May 2009.
