I just downloaded this FREE book for Niecey on my iPod. It is so cute! There are 66 pages with a great story you can read and your child can look at the great baby animals. My favorite is the baby moose, there aren't any antlers. :)

New Years Tip #10

Shopping with kiddos? This can be a tough task. There are so many neat things in so many aisles that are so appealing and just calling out their name! But there are also so many boring things and nothing to do while shopping. Either way shopping trips can be filled with arguments and crying.
When we hit the doll and cracker aisles with Niecey that is all she can talk about! Oh, and I forgot sometimes the cart is no fun to stay in because you are in such a big place with great hiding spots that all you want to do is run around and hide. :)

When we shop with her we give her jobs, she is only two but if she doesn't want to sit in the cart she is in charge of finding the color of the item we need and putting it in the cart. (Even if she is sitting in the cart she is given the item to turn and put it in the cart.)

You might need to bring a few snacks with you, those have saved us big time. We also sing songs with her and will let her bring in a dolly. I am a fan of being silly, I like to pretend dolly is talking to her and singing songs. We don't like to bring in a ton of things but a few essentials are perfect or use what you have on hand! Your voice...sing songs, go through the alphabet, count all the varieties of cereal, etc. Clothing you have with you...gloves, mittens and hats can be great impromptu puppets. Read the packaging of something you are buying and make it a scavenger hunt on the box...where is the red whatever, find the letter...you get the picture. You are making learning moments while you are having fun too!

I like doing "non screen" activities, if needed you can always turn to the phone or a video game but I think these other activities are a little more fun for both of you. :)
