It's Friday Family Fun Night at our house tonight and this has been so much fun for us to work on as a family! My younger two lost interest about ten minutes in, but my older two were having a blast creating our puzzle.
This puzzle I was sent comes in the shape of a flag and it holds $25 worth of coins in the form of 50 dimes, 318 nickels and 410 pennies. It also comes with two coin counters, designed to let you stack your coins in groups of 10.
I went to the bank to have enough change to put in this puzzle, but this is an awesome way to collect your change and hold it until you have enough to fill your 3D Coin Art!
The night ended with myself and the two oldest children (11 and 9) filling this up. We had some great discussion as we went along. We examined each coin and talked about differences in each coin. We talked about the years that each were made. We talked about the coloring of each coin. There are so many things that will spark the conversation, making this a great family night activity!
The instructional packet explains which order to add coins in, and how to clean your coins to make them as shiny as possible for the display. We cleaned our coins beforehand and are going to give this as a gift to Grandpa, the coin collector of the family. But, I do like the idea of using and reusing each time you fill up the coin counters. It's a great idea for family fun!
