Are you looking for a fun and inexpensive way to entertain a group of friends or family members?  Want to be able to sit down and enjoy a meal together but not sure if you will have a whole lot to talk about?

Try a Murder Mystery Party!  I have hosted a couple of them and they are a ton of fun!  My last one was on October 29th (A little Halloween get together.)

Our latest scenario was Death at St. James Park.  I have also hosted Murder on Misty Island.

Each game requires a specific number of participants-you can have extra but they are observers not active participants.

You need to plan for these parties-they give you great tips and detailed directions as well as costume and food ideas. It is so much fun seeing people dress up!  One of our friends really got into it this time and bout a military costume because her was a Lieutenant.  It was awesome! Murder on Misty Island was and Asian themed game and Death at St. James Park was WWII themed.  For Murder on Misty Island I served egg drop soup, chicken fried rice, fortune cookies, kung pow chicken, egg rolls and a few other items.  For Death at St. James Park we enjoyed meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls and I looked up WWII desserts and found 2 "wartime" cake recipes-neither of them used eggs.

So you plan your party and decide who each of your friends are going to be-they arrive in costume (hopefully) and your party begins.  Everyone has a "script" items they need to reveal each round or try to keep secret.  The game is played in rounds or chapters after each chapter you need to make sure all details that need to be given about yourself are out.  You usually move onto the next food course at that time as well.
The games are a bit adult at times-not for kiddos-that is why the games make for a great evening with friends, there are a number of innuendos and adult themes.

I don't want to give out too much about the games, they really are something you need to experience for yourself.  I strongly suggest you check with your friends or fun family members to see if they want to participate, you need to have a fun crowd.

I LOVE the fact that the games give you all of the suggestions but you can certainly branch out and fit things to your needs or ideas.

You really need to plan on a good chunk of time to designate to your party-I would say at least 2 and a half hours.  Both of mine went for about 3 hours but we chatted and laughed A LOT!

Both of the games I hosted were a blast!  My favorite so far was Murder on Misty Island.  I am hoping to try Pasta, Passion & Pistols, Staying Alive or A Murder on the Grill Next.

Check out University Games for more Murder Mystery Party games and for all of their games!  They also have games for families!!!
