Yummy Jello Dirt Cake Recipe

So, one thing I love to do is to bring my experiments along to parties for the holidays.  So, as I am getting ready to go to a graduation party, I stumbled across this recipe that is tried and true!  I have made this for many parties...the kids love it...and I do, too!  I always bring it along to parties and don't make it at home because I know I will be the one who ends up eating it all!  One thing I love about this recipe is the versatility in the decorations.  For example, for the fourth of July, I used red gummy worms throughout, made the cake in a blue pail (complete with shovel to help serve), and found some red and blue star picks that I had left over from some cupcakes that we had last year for the fourth.
Here's the recipe.  Let us know if you use it and how it turns out!

Ingredients -
2 cups cold milk
8 oz chocolate cool whip
1 packet chocolate flavored jello
16 oz chocolate sandwich cookies (Oreo)

Preparation:
Pour the milk into a big bowl and add the jello pudding. Beat well and let it rest for 5 minutes. Stir in half the cookies and all the cool whip.
Place 3/4 of the cookies not mixed with the cool whip into (in this case) the pail and fill the pail up to an inch from the top with the pudding mixture. Top with the rest of the cookies and chill for an hour.

I found this on the Jello recipes website.  This is perfect for really any holiday as you can doctor it up and decorate accordingly!  It's a great summertime treat!
