Product Review: Gorton's Shrimp Scampi

Betsy and I had the chance to review some Gorton's frozen seafood products.  We picked out Shrimp Scampi, which is shrimp in a creamy garlic butter sauce.

The box suggests serving it over pasta or rice, but I wanted to go in a different direction.  So I went to the Gorton's website http://www.gortons.com/, and checked out their recipe section for some ideas.  You just select the type of product you have and it gives you several options.  I picked Shrimp Scampi Pizza.

You begin by preparing the shrimp scampi as directed on the box.  You just put it in a pan and stir the sauce and flip the shrimp until everything is cooked.

While you make the shrimp, chop up the veggies that are going to go on your pizza, red pepper, green pepper, mushrooms, and red onion.  I cheated and bought the mushrooms sliced.

For the crust I just picked up some pre-made Boboli crusts, you begin by putting your desired amount of shredded mozzarella cheese on each crust.

Then add your chopped veggies to your pizza.

Then add your prepared shrimp scampi on top of your veggies and cheese.

Once your pizza is prepared you just make it according to the directions that came with the crust.

The shrimp pairs well with the veggies and cheese, they combine for a nice flavor when mixed with the creamy garlic butter sauce.  They are easy to eat with the crunchy pizza crust.

It was a very nice meal, that I would have again.  However, if this doesn't sound like something you would like, check out the Gorton's website for other recipe options.

Enjoy!
