We had the opportunity to review some SeaPak Frozen Popcorn Shrimp, which is available in your grocers freezer section or you can get it delivered from Schwans.
I checked out the SeaPak website for some recipe ideas. I chose the Popcorn Shrimp and Mac & Cheese dinner. You just combine your cooked Popcorn Shrimp with some Mac and Cheese. I picked up the "grown up" Mac and Cheese.
You just prepare each as directed on the packaging. For the shrimp, I only made half the package. What I found convienent was that the shrimp comes in a re-sealable package that has the cooking directions printed on it, so you don't have to use up valuable space in your freezer with a half full box. Just spread the shrimp out on a cookie sheet and bake, make sure to flip them over half way through for maximum crunchiness.
The shrimp are nicely sized, so while they may be popcorn they are not in any way small. Once you have your Mac and Cheese prepared, place it in a baking dish and cover with the shrimp.
You can then add some extra cheesy and crunchiness to the meal by topping this off with shredded cheddar and some bread crumbs. And then bake for another 5 minutes.
Then just spoon it onto your plate and enjoy.
The creamy cheesy noodles pair very well with the crunchy shrimp and bread crumbs. I found it a great way to enjoy the popcorn shrimp, if you are looking for going beyond just dipping them in cocktail sauce or even making Po Boy sandwiches (which these would be good for as well). I recommend trying these out.
