Do you purchase warranties???

Do you purchase warranties on any products?

I had to purchase a good pencil sharpener fro work-we have a homework time and we go through pencils like they are water.  So  I needed a good pencil sharpener.  I had to purchase this out of pocket so I didn't want to spend to much but didn't want to be too cheap either.  Any who-I went to OfficeMax and purchased a decent vacuum mount pencil sharpener for $12.99 (out of my pocket) and great sharpener and a nice color.  I purchased this last May.  At that time the cashier asked if I wanted the 1 year warranty for $3.15 with tax.  She said I would be able to get a new sharpener if something went wrong.  I figured the price wasn't too bad and if it does break I really don't want to shell out another $12.99 for a new one and in my line of work I figured it would get dropped, stepped on or something would snap off.

None of those things happened but I was sharpening pencils yesterday morning and the sharpener started getting really hard to turn, all of a sudden a piece inside the sharpener started coming out with every turn!  I was bummed.  I went home and found my warranty information (I was surprised it was where I left it).  This morning I took the bad sharpener into OfficeMax, the cashier told me to grab a new one and asked if I wanted to pay another $3.15 for a new 1 year warranty!  Of course I did! (Now I have until 2/17/12 to replace the new one!)  I am just so excited about my smart choice that I had to share with all of you.  Sometimes spending a few extra dollars really pays off!  I saved myself at least $10.00 and if this one breaks I will certainly purchase another warranty! :)
