Every year around Valentine's Day several different pizza chains offer the chance to show your loved ones how much you appreciate them by selling heart shaped pizzas. Betsy and I decided to replicate this at home by making our own heart shaped pizza. Here is what we needed.
You could make the heart shape one of two ways, you could roll out the dough and cut it into a heart shape or in our case, we have a heart shaped cake pan, so I rolled out the dough and trimmed it to fit into our pan.
After pre-baking the crust for a few minutes (per the package directions) then I added the toppings. Starting with the sauce.
Then I added the cheese, we used a mozzarella and provolone combo.
Then the other toppings, we just had pepperoni.
Then you just bake until your cheese is melted and your crust is golden brown.
After carefully taking it out of the pan, it is ready to cut and serve.
As easy as it can be to order a pizza from a chain, making one your self can make it that much more satisfying, and everyone knows that making something at home adds that extra special ingredient...
