Summerfest Kicks Off Opening day by Giving Away 250,000 FREE Tickets

MILWAUKEE (June 19, 2014) – Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. is thanking Summerfest fans in attendance on Opening Day, Wednesday, June 25 at 5:00 pm with a grounds-wide, over quarter million dollar ticket giveaway that will kick-off the 2014 edition of “The World’s Largest Music Festival.”

At 5:00 pm on Opening Day, Summerfest Grounds Crew and Security Staff, stationed throughout Henry Maier Festival Park, will thank patrons by actively taking part in distributing 25,000 FREE Weekday Admission tickets ($11 value/ticket or $275,000 in total ticket value) to patrons on the Summerfest Grounds who approach them, smile and deliver the phrase ... “Let’s Paint the Town Red!” Anyone who approaches the participating employees and shows their Summerfest spirit by exclaiming “Let’s Paint the Town Red!” will receive one (1) Weekday Admission ticket while supplies last.

To signify the start of the ticket giveaway at 5:00 pm, horns will sound, fireworks will fly and a recorded message will play over the PA system, officially kicking-off Summerfest 2014 and starting the “Opening Day ‘Paint the Town Red’ Ticket Giveaway.” At this time, designated Summerfest employees who have Weekday Admission tickets will each hold up their tickets to distribute, at which point patrons may seek them out and deliver the phrase.

In addition, fest-fans are invited to attend Opening Ceremonies at 5:00 pm at the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard with Coors Light and Tap Milwaukee. The festivities will include a performance from Warren Wiegratz and local choir members led by Antoine Reynolds along with a welcome from Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. Henry Maier Festival Park will be rockin’ all day long with great music, daytime fun, the Big Bang Fireworks show presented by Menards and WISN-TV and much more!

Summerfest is going to be here before we know it! It runs this year from June 25 - June 29 and July 1 - July 6. One thing that many people don't know is that there is plenty for the family to do while you're there! I have always thought of Summerfest as something to do with out children...a night out with the ladies or guys, a date night, a fun evening filled with music and drinks...but, not a place for children! I have been impressed the last couple of years at the steps that Summerfest has taken to make Summerfest more family-friendly!

NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL CHILDREN’S THEATER & PLAYZONE

Kids of all ages can enjoy family focused entertainment and activities in the Northwestern Mutual Children’s Theater and Playzone. Open daily, Noon – 8:00 pm. Visit the daily lineup pages for information on performers and show times.

KIDS ACTIVITY TENT

Open daily, Noon – 5:00 pm, kids of all ages will enjoy the following activities:

UB the Band!
Hey kids, want to be a “real” rockstar? Now’s your chance to shine! UB the Band brings all the gear, including colorful drum sets for ages 2 – adult, awesome character and special guitars complete with wireless microphones, stage monitors, real stage lighting and all the trimmings. No experience necessary!

F.I.R.S.T. Robotics
Kids of all ages can take the controls of miniature remote controlled robots. The robots are built by teenage members of Charger Robotics Team 537 from Hamilton High School in Sussex, WI. Team members will be on site every day and there will also be a multi-school robotics competition at the Gruber Law Offices SportsZone on July 1 from Noon – 5:00 pm.

PADDLEBOAT WATER EXPERIENCE

Celebrate Summerfest on the water! Presented by Badger Meter, this family friendly activity provided by Lakeshore Paddle Sports will give patrons the opportunity to relax and take in views of the festival and downtown Milwaukee. From Noon – 7:00 pm each day, paddle around part of the lagoon for 30 minutes in boats that hold up to four (4) people. Located at the boat dock on the north end of the grounds, this is a can’t miss experience!



You won't want to miss the Sentry Foods and Dean's Milk and Ice Cream Children's Fest Day with Today's TMJ4 on Tuesday, July 1 from Noon - 3 pm!
