Betsy and I had the chance to try out Maggiano's Little Italy, located at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa.
We decided to meet some friends there for dinner one Friday night. Betsy made reservations for us through Open Table, which meant we only had to wait a couple minutes before we were seated.
We started off our meal with an appetizer of crispy onion strings. We both enjoy them a lot and order them often as an appetizer from various restaurants, these were just as good as any we have had. You also get a pretty generous stack of them to enjoy, we had to bring some home. If you don't feel like having an appetizer, you could just start your meal off with the basket of warm bread they bring to your table. You can have it plain or there is oil on the table available for dipping.
Betsy ordered the spaghetti with meatball. Yes, that meatball is singular, because it is about the size of a baseball. It is served on a small hill of spaghetti, with your choice of marinara or meat sauce. The meatball was moist and nicely seasoned, and there was a nice amount of sauce over the perfectly prepared noodles.
I ordered the mom's lasagna with meat sauce. The piece of lasagna was very big, piled high, and had a lot of meat sauce poured over the top. It has crumbled meatballs and italian sausage, plus ricotta and provolone cheeses. I am a big fan of lasagna and this one didn't disappoint.
Both of our pasta servings were so generous that we had to bring home leftovers. But we made sure to leave some room for dessert, which for us was a creme brulee. The vanilla custard was warm and creamy and the top was nice and crusty.
We signed up for their email club before we went, they will send you various deals at different times. The first one we got was for $10 off our order which was a nice deal. We will most certainly be going back again. I suggest you give it a try if you haven't yet.
