The Caillou Talking Doll proposes a fresh new look for this world renowned character, with bright new school gear including a removable backpack and hat. The doll allows a whole new level of interaction between kids and Caillou, offering ten educational interactions meant to spark children’s creativity, including two quick and easy French words to learn and say. Caillou Talking Doll is exactly what you would expect from a Caillou item. The Caillou Talking Doll provides a brand new look including his new pre-school outfit and backpack and allows your child to interact with Caillou. Caillou can now teach you about the seasons, colors and even teach a few words in French to broaden every child's horizons. Focusing on role playing, the Caillou Talking Doll is fun and educative and makes the perfect comforting friend to tag along anywhere your child goes. Caillou is a preschooler who delights in the small wonders of the world around him, embellishing everything he sees with his rich imagination. With a focus on role-playing and make-believe Caillou toys and games help spruce up reality with a healthy dose of imagination so your kids will be inspired to make up adventures of their own.

I got a Caillou Talking Doll to review.  My children just love him!  They giggle to hear him speak in another language as well as English.  He's cute.  My boys are huge Caillou fans, so I am happy to see them happy!  From a parent's perspective...he's durable and educational!  Doesn't get much better than that!

Dinosaur Train Celebrates National Nutrition Month and Dinosaur Train DVD Giveaway ENDS 3/21/11 11:59pm CST

March is National Nutrition Month, a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the American Dietetic Association. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. This year's National Nutrition Month theme, “Eat right with Color,” encourages everyone to remember to include a colorful variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and dairy on their plates every day.
A healthy diet is important to us all, just as it was to Dinosaurs many years ago. With the month of March focusing on nutrition, it’s the perfect time to look at some great ideas and resources provided by The American Dietetic Association to eat a healthy diet! And, we invite you to to teach your child how to prepare a vegetarian (herbivore) picnic filled with great food and fun by visiting Dinosaur Train on the PBS parent’s site: http://www.pbs.org/parents/dinosaurtrain/activities/handson/picnic.html
To help parents, the American Dietetic Association provides many resources.   They even have a downloadable PDF listing 25 healthy snacks for kids, including these five great ideas:
1. Peel a banana and dip it in yogurt. Roll in crushed cereal and freeze.
2. Spread celery sticks with peanut butter or low-fat cream cheese. Top with raisins. Enjoy your “ants on a log.”
3. Stuff a whole-grain pita pocket with ricotta cheese and Granny Smith apple slices. Add a dash of cinnamon.
4. Mix together ready-to-eat cereal, dried fruit and nuts in a sandwich bag for an on-the-go snack.
5. Smear a scoop of frozen yogurt on two graham crackers and add sliced banana to make a yummy
sandwich.
Next, Buddy can help you and your child prepare a vegetarian (herbivore) picnic. The Have A Brachiosaurus Picnic activity helps young children to learn what foods fit into an herbivore's diet (fruits and vegetables); reminds children about the importance of hand washing before eating; and also creates an opportunity to discuss why all animals need to eliminate waste from their bodies (a.k.a. “poop”).

The downloadable PDF file provides the ingredients to prepare Brachiosaurus Picnic, with fun food items on the menu, including:

o Brachiosaurus Super Salad: The kids will have fun tearing up green leafy veggies into bite-size pieces and mixing ranch dressing with green coloring to make a tasty topping.
o Sauropod Sandwich: With a plastic knife, cut pieces of whole wheat bread in the shape of a favorite dinosaur and spread with cheese spread or peanut butter.
o Herbivore Herb and Spinach Spread: Mix frozen spinach, dried onion soup mix, sour cream, celery sticks and crackers
o Green Juice – fill a child’s plastic cup with apple juice and add green food color to make a green beverage fit for an herbivore.

And as we all know, digestion is a very important part of keeping healthy for both humans…and dinosaurs back in the day! Click here to watch the video clip of the song “Every Dinosaur Poops” and talk about why every animal needs to go, and what would happen if the animal didn’t poop out the parts of the food its body didn’t need.

Another fun way to explore “poop” is with Uncle Milton’s new Dinosaur Train Dino Poop Kit, just one of a range of new science themed toys geared to make science more interesting, engaging and accessible for children. With the Dino Poop kit, kids can discover what the dinosaur had for lunch! Did he have fish or did he eat a plant? Once kids find pieces of what he ate, they can put them together to create their own fossil imprint to figure it out! It’s OK parents, it's not real poop…it's soft, pliable dino dough! Available at Toys”R”Us (SRP: $7.99, ages 4+)

Dinosaur Train Pajamas Review

Links provided may be from affiliate programs which help support this blog. Thanks for clicking!

I was able to get these adorable Dinosaur Train Pajamas to do a review with.  They are super cute and comfy and my son practically lives in them!  With the cold weather we have had so far this winter, my son loves the warmth.  I must admit, I love them too!  They are super cute and he looks just adorable, if I might say so myself ;)  I am always worried my kids won't be warm enough and I check on them often throughout the night, but, honestly, I notice with these new pajamas he's been wearing, I haven't been as nervous about him being warm.  These adorable footed pajamas are available at Kohl’s with the MSRP of $26.00.  They are available in sizes 2T - 5T.  The dinosaur appliques and striped pattern on these footed pajamas offer a timeless touch, and the footed design keep toes toasty.
We love the Dinosaur Train here and watch it every day on PBS!  My children are addicted to playing the Dinosaur Train Games on the PBS website as well!

Dinosaur Train New Season Roars in on Monday!

Links provided may be from affiliate programs which help support this blog. Thanks for clicking!
The hit television series Dinosaur Train  is roaring into 2011 with an all-new episode premiering Monday, January 17 on PBS KIDS (check local listings). We wanted to let you know so you can tune in.  In the all-new episode, “The Good Mom;” “Diamond Anniversary,” Mrs. Pteranodon meets fellow mom Millie Maiasaura, who is a little too over-protective of her kids. The two moms share some time comparing mothering methods in a play date at the Big Pond.  And, Mr. and Mrs. Pteranodon decide to surprise each other with gifts on their anniversary.  My sons really love this show!  We don't have cable, so PBS is on quite a bit in our household and as soon as Dinosaur Train started airing, my children were thrilled!  My second youngest son loves dinosaurs, so when it's on we watch it from start to finish...there can be no interruptions!
The Dinosaur Train is brought to you by The Jim Henson Company.  You can like the Henson Company on Facebook.  You can also follow them on Twitter.
And if you miss the TV broadcast of “The Good Mom;” “Diamond Anniversary” you can view it at the following link: http://www.pbs.org/teachers/dinosaurtrain/lessonplans/maiasaura/
