Seapak Popcorn Fish Review

Betsy and I had the opportunity to try Seapak's new breaded fish treat, Popcorn Fish.  Which is available in your grocers freezer section, or from Schwans.

There are 50 Popcorn Fish in this resealable bag, so you can choose to make a lot or a little.

I checked out the SeaPak website for some preparation tips.  I decided to go beyond tartar sauce, and found recipes for three different dipping sauce options.

The first was a Creamy Honey Mustard Sauce.  Mix 6TBS Mayo, 1TBS Dijon Mustard, 1TBS Honey, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.

The second sauce was a Chipotle Dipping Sauce.  Mix 1/2 cup Mayo, 1-2 Chili Peppers in Adobo (seeded and diced), and 2tsp Garlic Powder in a bowl.

The third sauce was a Spicy Maple Sauce.  Combine 1/2 cup Maple Syrup, 1TBS Ginger, 1tsp Garlic Powder, 1/2tsp Red Pepper Flakes, and 1/4tsp Salt in a sauce pan and bring to a bowl.  Once boiling remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes.

I prepared the sauces while the fish was baking.  For maximum crispiness, make sure to turn the fish over half way through the cooking time.  This is how they look cooked.

We enjoyed the fish with the prepared dipping sauces.

Betsy preferred the Creamy Honey Mustard sauce, she liked that it was sweet.  I liked the Chipotle Dipping Sauce best, I like things a little spicy, you could make it more or less spicy by adding or subtracting some peppers.

No matter what sauce you used, the fish was crispy on the outside but remained tender and flaky on the inside, the pieces are a good size as well.  We are looking forward to finishing off the bag later.

Thanks for reading.  Enjoy.

-Mr. Betsy
