Pay it Forward: The Giving Tree at Southridge Mall to Benefit Sojourner Family Peace Center

Links provided may be from affiliate programs which help support this blog. Thanks for clicking!

It's not too late to pay it forward to women in need this holiday season!  If you have some Christmas shopping left to do, be sure to make a stop at Southridge!  They have a little something for everyone on your list - and you can PAY IT FORWARD!

Beat the holiday rush, get some Christmas shopping done and pay it forward...all in one evening!  My Milwaukee Mommy has teamed up with Southridge Mall and the Sojourner Family Peace Center this year to pay it forward to our local community.  It's Moms and Families paying it forward to other moms and women in need!

How can you get involved?

We will have a Giving Tree located in Macy's Court at Southridge Mall starting Monday, December 7, 2015.  On that Giving Tree will be ornaments with requests from women who are currently staying at the Sojourner Family Peace Center.  You can pick an ornament off of that tree and "adopt" a mom to purchase a gift for.

As mothers we tend to lose sight of ourselves and our needs and often go without during the holiday season so that our children can have that extra gift under the tree.  We all need a little pampering...why not spread the love and give to another local woman in need this holiday season?

New, unwrapped gifts can be dropped off at  Guest Services starting Monday, December 7 until the close of the mall on Sunday, December 20.

ESTABLISHED IN 1975, THE MISSION OF SOJOURNER FAMILY PEACE CENTER IS TO TRANSFORM LIVES IMPACTED BY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

Our primary goals are to ensure the safety of victims of family violence and provide a pathway out of violence for victims and abusers through opportunities to make positive and lasting changes for themselves and their children.

Sojourner Family Peace Center is the largest nonprofit provider of domestic violence prevention and intervention services in Wisconsin, serving over 9,500 clients each year. Sojourner provides an array of support aimed at helping families affected by domestic violence achieve safety, justice and well-being.

We would like to have enough sets of pajamas for every woman staying at the Sojourner Family Peace Center this holiday season.  So, donations of new, unwrapped pajama sets are greatly appreciated!

Here are some other ideas of gifts that would be appreciated:
  • Body Wash
  • Lotion
  • Socks
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Costume Jewelry
The Sojourner Family Peace Center wants to help these ladies become more dependent.  They want to help provide these women with the tools needed to support themselves as well as their children.

Dunkin Donuts: Cop on a Rooftop Friday, August 16

Links provided may be from affiliate programs which help support this blog. Thanks for clicking!

They're hitting the rooftops again! This year, on Friday, August 16, police officers will climb atop 20 DD rooftops in the Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay markets to raise money for Special Olympics Wisconsin.

The concept is very simple....police officers (on their day off) go on the roofs at 6 a.m. and do whatever they can (megaphones, costumes, antics, etc.) to create attention and collect donations on the rooftops of what many will admit is their home away from home. They will stay on the roofs until 11 am.

Dunkin' Donuts will give coupons for Free Medium Hot or Iced Coffee to all who donate. They are also giving a donation of $5,000.

My personal favorite response from police officers when asked why they do this...."We are so used to dealing with the bad, but this is all good."

Pay it Forward at JCPenney...Round Up your Total to the Nearest Dollar to Help Boys and Girls Clubs of America

Links provided may be from affiliate programs which help support this blog. Thanks for clicking!

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

Preparing our kids for back-to-school season means organizing new outfits, purchasing school supplies and maybe buying a new backpack for the upcoming year. While we try our best to send our kids back-to-school as prepared as possible, unfortunately many children fall behind in their education before the school year even starts.

For more than 100 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) has supported the academic success of our nation's youth. Each year, the BGCA helps prepare nearly 2 million kids to succeed in school. From providing quality afterschool programs, a caring mentor or simply contributing notebooks and pencils, BGCA strives to enable all kids to achieve great futures. Whether joining in BGCA's Tools for Back-to-School online supply drive, or rounding up your purchase at jcpenney , BGCA offers a plethora of ways to help every child begin the new school year on the right foot.

I was so excited to be chosen as a Boys and Girls Club Back-to-School Ambassador!  I am a huge supporter of all that the Boys and Girls Clubs do for the youth of America!  JCPenney has teamed up with BGCA for the JCPenney Cares Round up Campaign.  All you have to do is ask to round up your total at your local JCPenney to the nearest dollar and that will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club!  100% of donations raised will go directly to BGCA.  What an awesome way to pay it forward and give back to your community.

I am fortunate enough to be able to be there for my children.  But, did you know that each day 15.1 million kids are left unsupervised after school?  Boys & Girls Clubs are there to provide kids with quality after-school programming to keep them on track to academic success and a great future.

Please consider shopping at JCPenney this back to school season and rounding up your purchase to help ensure that every child starts off the year great!

Check out all the ways you can Pay it Forward with Burlington Coat Factory!

Links provided may be from affiliate programs which help support this blog. Thanks for clicking!

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, and with the holiday season approaching, giving back is on everyone’s minds.  Burlington Coat Factory has been getting in the spirit by recently kicking off its 6th annual Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Coat Drive. The drive benefits One Warm Coat, a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing coats to those in need.

The program invites shoppers to “Give a Coat and Share the Warmth” by donating gently-worn coats (in good condition, with working closures and no rips or stains) at drop boxes at their local Burlington store.  Burlington and One Warm Coat will be working with agencies in the tri-state area to ensure coats donated to local stores benefit hurricane victims.  As a thank you, Burlington Coat Factory will give a 10% discount on their purchase.

Even for those who do not have a coat to donate, there are many easy ways to get involved:

·         Send a text - Text “COAT” to 80100 to donate funds to One Warm Coat to help fund coats for kids in need. Show that you made a donation at any Burlington and receive 10% off your entire purchase
·         Drink a Coke - Any customer who purchases a Coca-Cola product and joins My Coke Rewards, will be able to donate their points to One Warm Coat to help fund coats for kids in need;
·         Check in - Check-in on Foursquare at any Burlington location and for every unlocked special Burlington will donate one new coat, up to 5,000, to someone in need;
·         Pin it - Take the coat drive pledge on Pinterest by creating a “What Keeps Me Warm” Board which must include at least three pins from Burlington Coat Factory's Coat Board along with the #WarmCoatsWarmHeartsPin, hashtag.  Send the link of your Board to pinterest@coat.com to enter for the chance to win a $100 Burlington gift card.

Don't forget to head to Dunkin' Donuts tomorrow morning!

POLICE OFFICERS TO STAKE OUT DUNKIN’ DONUTS ROOFTOPS
TO SUPPORT SPECIAL OLYMPICS WISCONSIN, FRIDAY, JUNE 22
Guests Receive Free Medium Coffee Coupon Upon Donation
Milwaukee, WI—June, 2012—Law enforcement officers throughout the state will stake out Dunkin’ Donuts rooftops to benefit Special Olympics Wisconsin, on Friday, June 22, beginning at 6 a.m.
That morning, police officers are scheduled to cover 15 Dunkin’ Donuts rooftops to heighten awareness and raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Wisconsin….rain or shine!
“The tradition of police officers and donuts goes way back as kind of a joke,” states Wisconsin Torch Run Director and Kenosha County Deputy Sheriff Ray Merlin.  “What better way to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Wisconsin!  It’s a great opportunity to meet your local officers as they are up on the rooftops of your local Dunkin’ Donuts collecting donations as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Wisconsin as they celebrate 40 years of serving athletes in our communities.”
In return for the police officers “doing time” at their restaurants, Dunkin’ Donuts will donate $5,000 to the Torch Run fund.  In addition, each guest who visits a Cop on a Rooftop location that day and makes a donation to the Torch Run will receive a Free Medium Hot or Iced Coffee coupon.*  Guests donating at least $15 will receive a Law Enforcement Torch Run shirt (while supplies last) and a coupon for a Free Medium Coffee.
Earlier this month, police officers in Illinois held a Cop on a Rooftop event at 130 Dunkin’ Donuts and raised more than $225,000 for Special Olympics Illinois.
The Torch Run is the largest grass-roots fundraising program and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics.  Law enforcement officers from the 50 United States, 12 Canadian provinces and territories and 40 nations carry the Flame of Hope in honor of Special Olympics athletes.  Wisconsin’s Law Enforcement Torch Run is the sixth highest grossing program in the world, raising nearly $2.4 million in 2011 with more than 1,000 registered participants representing 150 law enforcement agencies.
Special Olympics Wisconsin provides year-round training and competition opportunities through 18 different Olympic-type sports for nearly 10,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities.  The organization holds 137 statewide competitions and five state tournaments per year.  For more information, visit Special OlympicsWisconsin.org or call(800) 552-1324.
